Betrothal
Betrothal: "Kiddushin", meaning 'made holy' or 'set aside'

Betrothal has a legal status in Jewish law, can't be broken except by death or divorce
Traditionally, a kiddushin ceremony is held a year before the wedding itself
During year of betrothal, couple will not live with each other, but prepare for future lives together
