Hve flat land for building or storage close to the water
Have deep water for large ships
Are found where there are sheltered harbours, such as on an estuary, at the mouth of a river or in a bay
May be close to major industrial areas inland to import and export their goods
Tourist Resort
May be large historical cities
May be close to industrial areas with large populations, with good rail and road links
May be on the coast with beaches or in scenic inland areas
Have hotels and entertainments of various types
