Reflection: Student responsibility is a huge element of DE, particularly with asynchronous courses. The timing, pacing, and level of interaction are very heavily placed onto distance learners. No matter how well designed a course is with a DE class, if the students do not engage, it will fall flat. The same can be said of F2F, too, of course, but F2F has many practical strategies to tackle the problem, whereas DE depends on student choice and agency far more than F2F.
