Valvular disease- Aortic
Aortic Stenosis
Pathophysiology
Lack of blood going out of the aorta. Means a reduction in blood to the CA this means that there will be angina
-
The aortic valve is stenosed this means that the blood needs to be at higher pressure to be pumped through this smaller space. Causes LV hypertrophy and dilation
-
Aetiology
Causes of this include rheumatic heart disease, degenerative and calcification. One of the most common causes is to have a bicuspid heart valve or infective endocarditis
You can normally get 3 types of stenosis: supravalvular, valvular and subvalvular

Treatment

Aortic Regurgitation
Blood moves back into the heart in diastole. This means that there is a higher blood volume in the heart in systole meaning that the LV needs to hypertrophy
There will be an increase systolic pressure and a decreased diastolic pressure. Leading to a wide Pulse pressure
