      - How it works
        
        The pancreas detects a high blood glucose level
        
        The pancreas produces insulin which is released into the blood stream
        
        Insulin makes the cells in the body take up more glucose. Cells in the liver and muscles take up glucose and convert it into a storage molecule called glycogen
    - - Glucagon is also produced by the pancreas and increases blood glucose levels when they get too low
      - How it works
        
        The pancreas detects a low blood glucose level
        
        The pancreas releases glucagon into the blood stream
        
        Glucagon causes the glycogen to be converted back into glucose, causing the blood glucose level to rise
