CONTRAINDICATIONS
People with diabetes, low amount of magnesium in the blood, low calcium in the blood, low sodium in the blood, low potassium in the blood, low chloride in the blood

THERAPEUTIC USES
Use to treat fluid retention (oedema) in people with congestive heart failure, liver disease, or a kidney disorder such as nephrotic syndrome.

PRECAUTIONS

Excessive amounts may cause dehydration and blood volume reduction, possibly vascular thrombosis (blood clot obstructs the vein) and embolism (obstruction of the artery), typically a clot of blood or an air bubbles- most commonly in elderly.
DOSES
For water retention
40mg in the morning, then 20mg daily or 40mg on alternate days.

Works by blocking the absorption of sodium chloride and water from the filtered fluid in the kidney tubules causing an increase in urine,
