        Why might the war on the eastern front have been more mobile than that on the western front?
        
        The front line on the eastern front was longer than the western front. This means that both sides would have to spread their army out more, making a thinner defense. This would cause the front lines to shift more often because both sides didn't have to kill many enemy troops.
