THERAPEUTIC USES
Main use is to treat mild aches and pain including: headaches, muscular pain, migraine, period pains and toothache.

Must consult with doctor if patient has any lung disease, difficulty breathing or has current asthma

ACTIONS
Opioids
Nociceptors send signals to the brain when we are feeling pain, they are found all over the body (pain signals).
One area of the brain that receives message to the thalamus, and can send to the hypothalamus making us remember that pain.
Opioids work in the brain, spinal cord and periphery
In the brain they have mood altering effects, cause sedation and can decrease the emotional response to pain.

Firstly, damaged cells release Arachidonic acid. Enzymes: Cox 1 and Cox 2 convert arachidonic acid into prostaglandins. The medicine blocks this active site meaning that the enzyme in unable to attach onto the arachidonic acid to make prostaglandins.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Do not take if allergic to any of the ingredients in the medication, paracetamol and codeine.
Should not take if: patient has COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease), have liver failure, people who are intoxicated with alcohol, women who are breastfeeding, children under 12 years old.
DOSAGE
8/500mg , 2 tablets every 4-6 hours
