Individual Educational Plans
What?
A file set up for any student who has special needs or needs additional support.
It consists of concepts/activities the student struggles with.It then breaks these problems down into small bite sized chunks.
It normally includes a section which tells you the interests of the child to help aid the development.
Who?
It is made up of a multi-disciplinary team which includes:
Principal
Teacher
Special Needs Assistant(s)
Parents
Occupational Therapist
Physiotherapist
Psychologist
Resource Teachers
Why?
IEP's are essential as they give a focus and direction of learning for each student
They help the individual develop in the ways they most need to.
They break the workload into manageable pieces.
Improvements and regressions are easily tracked.
How long?
IEP's are set for shorter periods of time i.e. 10 weeks
This way it is easy to see where the improvement/regression begins.
Each part of the IEP is given it'sown designated frame so they are not forgotten about.
Each term the IEP is revised and if any corrections or adjustments need to be done they are carried out.
There should be a completely new IEP done up every school year
