Personal:
Being a single mother and having my son full time has made it difficult to find the time to go back to school.
Professional:
Academic:
I just started a new job where my hours are different then the last job I was working when I first started school in december.
Academically I have never really been good at school.
I can work around all of the obstacles in my life by First creating a schedule. I will need to actively keep a schedule and obtain by it if I want to make sure that I do not fail school. Also I will need to ask for help when or if I ever feel I need it, instead of just trying to figure it out on my own.
The way I describe my priorities in my life is by deciding what will get me where I want to be in my future. Also I decide what is a priority by determining what is going to affect what is happening now in my life.
Firstly, My son will always come first in my life so I make a lot of decisions based on what will affect his life.
Secondly, I make decisions based how what will get me where I want to be in life.
Lastly, Overall I choose what is most important by what will affect mine and my sons life the most.
Strategies that I use to prioritize school are knowing that I want to earn my degree to show my son that no matter how old you are or how long you wait to continue with school, its never too late.
Another strategy I use to prioritize school is proving to myself that it is never to late to obtain my degree. Lastly, I know that I want to get a job where I need a degree so that I can make more money and so I can find a job that I will want to go to everyday.
Prioritizing school and making sure that I do my work will contribute to my college success because I will graduate with passing grades. Another reason it is important to prioritize school is because the only way to pass school is making sure that my work is in on time and completed to the best of my ability.
Overall I have learned that it is important while making goals that your goals are detailed and time orientated. I have also learned that a good way to set goals is by using the acronym S.M.A.R.T. By using this I can better my goals. Lastly, I learned that Grand Canyon University does not take the title IX law lightly and I found this to be important and makes me feel safer knowing it.
The key take away from this week was knowing that I am protected in school under the title IX law. I also took away the acronym S.M.A.R.T and will be using it to help me rewrite my goals and make them more detailed so that I can complete my goals.
