Types
Affective conflict
Used when we have different feelings that cant match another person
- the feelings are the source of the conflict
Conflict of interest
Used when people disagree about a plan of action or what to do in a given circumstance
- Example from text: Julie, believes prayer is a good cure for illness and her husband Jeff does not and they have different beliefs. What happens when they have children and their kids get sick? How do they deal with it?
Value conflict
A difference in ideologies or values between relational partners
- when people disagree on moral value
Cognitive Conflict
The difference on thought process,interpretation of events
- can be a mix up of nonverbal communication

Disagreeing of a final outcome or goal
- one teammate wants to win a championship but the other just wants to play for fun
