This initial unit is about introducing oneself. There are many phrases one could say, but my unit-planning only focuses on a few. These students might already know additional sentences/phrases. In their small group, these students can share what else they know. First, they can individually write down what they know. Next, they can compile their knowledge in a single word document. Finally, they can teach themselves any new phrases they have listed. Depending on the pace of the rest of the class, future lessons could be centered around phrases they discussed.
