1803:
Thomas Jefferson made the Louisiana Purchase and in the true mindset of
expansionism
allotted
the country by almost 2 times.
1808:
The United states makes it illegal to import new slaves. From 1808 onwards slaves were only allowed to be from the people already enslaved and their children. Though the demand was so high that this rule was broken oftenly. Boat loads of slaves in fetters came through to the point where it was estimated that from 1808 to 1861 a quarter million slaves were illegally imported.
1811:
The biggest
revolt
ever happened involving 400-500 slaves.
1821:
Mexico won its independence from Spain .
1822:
A free black man named Denmark Vessey tried to start a revolt but was found out and
lynched
.
1831:
Nat Turner and his bandage of men went around from plantation to plantation murdering 55 white women, men, and children.
1836:
With help from the US, Texas broke off of Mexico and became its own republic called The Lone Star Republic.
