Aspirations
Indepdence
'Yeah, my mum always helped me with everything but I’m more independent with my education.'

Migration transition
Language
despite low speaking skills, she had very good writing skills
'I mean I can write, I’m good at writing. I’m scared of speaking so essays and exams I’m fine with and educational stuff I’m fine but when it comes to conversation and discussion I’m awful. '
-
loss of confidence
' I think it’s mostly because of the language. I… I’m quite quiet in England because I don’t like to speak to English people - it’s not that I don’t like to speak to them I just don't like to speak in English, I don’t feel confident and in Poland I can be myself, I’m with my friends and they know who I am. I’m not that shy and I can feel more free. '
due to the language restriction she stated that she feels her identity is different in the UK as compared to Poland

Polish community
nationalist values
'With the difference between people, I feel like Polish people are very much like ‘Oh I’m Polish, this is my country, I love Poland’ and really strong about it and English people are not like that. I feel like Polish people value education more than English people.'

closed off
'I used to feel like that when she lived in Hareford so it’s really small town and there are loads of Polish people there. You could go through the city and you just hear Polish, so it it’s really strange. There I really feel like a community because my mum have - all her friends are Polish and I don’t feel differently. I don’t feel like I’m in England when I’m in Hareford.'
'I feel like people see it as just bad stuff and they don’t see the other side. So, with the Brexit, in the media it was all like ‘Polish people steal our jobs’ and that was so frustrating to hear because my mum is a factory worker and I know quite a bit about how she works and she told me that it wasn’t that the Polish people were stealing jobs from English people because usually English people don’t want to work in the same places because they can speak English and can do other stuff so factory working is mostly for people outside of the UK.'
