Types of devices
Desktop/Laptop
On the homepage of a Desktop computer or laptop it contains icons which are graphic representations of applications such as Chrome which is a popular browser for searching and accessing websites.
These icons have either been already programmed into the computer to appear on the homepage or the user has created a shortcut for it to allow themselves to quickly access the browser and search for websites or what they are looking for.
Tablets
Tablets also contain icons representing the application on the screen such as Youtube or BBC iPlayer which directly take the user to the website.
Popular apps and 'Essentials' are already programmed into the tablet but these devices contain App stores such as the App Store on Apple products and Play store on Android products where these applications an be obtained or purchased to allow the users to easily access websites or games.
Safari is the main search engine on Apple products and lets the user search for what they want.
Benefits : very simple and easy to use for all audiences as well as they can be accessed on the move around the WiFi router. Drawbacks : the website engine and most of these apps rely heavily on Internet connections and therefore are mostly used at home under WiFi connection
Smartphones
Just like Tablets, smartphones contain the same apps and app purchasing system.
Game platforms
Platforms such as PlayStation and Xbox contain applications such as YouTube, Netflix and BBC iPlayer allowing quick easy access to these websites as well as both platforms having search engines to let user search for websites they are looking for

Smart TVs
These TVs come with Apps already installed onto the device such as Netflix, Youtube and Spotify. These are apps for video and music streaming websites.
Benefits : Quick, good quality access when watching or listening to the streamed videos or music. Drawbacks : As this device is a television these apps can only be accessed on this device when watching TV and therefore can't be accessed on the move or carried around on the go.
In car devices
EE Portable Car WiFi is a device that lets the user access the internet on the go and therefore allowing them to search for websites in their car. This is very useful to those who don't have a big Mobile data allowance and those who work on the move.
Ways of connection
Router
A router is what gives WiFi to the room, this however has a reaching distance which in some homes might give weak and slow signal areas making it slower and harder to access the internet.
WiFi
This is mainly used in homes so users can use their tablets, smart TVs and desktop computers more efficiently. Also public transport and restaurants have WiFi which encourages more customers to use their services.
ISP
This stands for Internet Service Provider. For example BT, Sky or TalkTalk. These companies provide wiFi and internet to your house.
Mobile Data
This is what is used by Smartphone users to give them Internet access on the move for example when walking through town. This usually has a limit which is payed for monthly by the Smartphone owner and can be used up if the users is accessing websites and using the internet services a lot.
Network
This is a group of computers connecting together bringing an internet connection to your home and desktop computer
Internet
This is what allows users to access websites from. All websites online services are located on the Internet and therefore to access these sites an 'Internet connection' is needed
