These two chapters are a great breakdown of design fundamentals. My favorite part of the reading was when Norman was talking with the engineers who were concerned about their design and Norman answered, :You are designing for people the way you would like them to be, no for the way they really are" (Norman, 2013, p. 7). As I do more instructional design work, I realize that this is the case for people who do not understand instructional design. They make training pretty and jazz up their powerpoints and training materials, but forget who the user is going to be receiving and putting into action the information they get from the training being given.
