She likes to fence, cook, and learn Latin, juggle, and magic tricks. Her parents and teacher think that she is not a proper princess. She is very different compared to her sisters physically and mentally. For example, Princess Cimorene's 3 sisters all have blond hair, but Princess Cimorene has very dark hair.

King of Linderwall: Father of Princess Cimorene and not very fond of her boyish like activities.

Queen of Linderwall: Mother of Princess Cimorene and is also not fond of her boyish like activities.

He gives her a set of directions which are to "go to the main road outside the city and follow it away from the mountains". Then she would stumble upon a little house. The frog said to "knock three times, then snap your fingers and go inside. What Princess Cimorene didn't know was that she was going to meet dragons. Kazul was the first dragon she met along with other dragons who wanted to eat her until she volunteered to be Kazul's princess.

Roxim: An elderly male dragon who is extra sensitive to wizards. (sneezing occurs when wizards are near dragons) He breathes fire every time he sneezes.

Zemenar: He is the head of the wizards. His staff is his power source. Zemenar is trying to find information about the caves of Fire and Night which he shouldn't be trying to in the first place. Kazul and Princess Cimorene figures out that he is trying to help Woraug win the competition to become the King of Dragons in exchange for the crystal ball. Since his plan failed, the Society of Wizards no longer have access to the caves of Fire and Night.

Moranz: A dragon who isn't very fond of Princess Cimorene due to the fact that she volunteered to be a dragon's princess.

King Tokoz: Tokoz is the King of Dragons who is getting older and starting to forget things which is not good for the dragon community because wizards are getting away with actions they are not supposed to be doing. Later on in the book, he is murdered.

Three Princesses:

Princess Hallanna of the kingdom Poranbuth: Held captive by the dragon Zareth. She wears a silver crown.

Princess Alianora of the Duchy of Toure-on-Marsh: Held captive by the dragon Woraug. She wears a pearl circlet. She becomes good friends with Princess Cimorene.

Antorell: He is Zemenar's son. Kazul and Princess Cimorene are suspicious of him as well.

Morwen: Kazul's dragon friend who has a book about the Fire and Night caves. Morwen lives in the enchanted forest.

Plot:

Princess Cimorene and Dragon Kazul are on a mission to find out what Zemenar is trying to find out about the Fire and Night caves.

Landscape:

The main landscape in the book is Kazul's cave which is located in a series of tunnels inside the mountain.

Another landscape is the Fire and Night Caves, which the book is centered around.

The Enchanted Forest is an important landscape because it is the location of when Kazul and Princess Cimorene go to find a book from Morwen about the Fire and Night caves. Which later on will probably solve what Zemenar wants to do with the Fire and Night caves.

Links to Dragon Literature:

Some characteristics of dragons are very common throughout dragon literature which is fire-breathing and flying. And firebreathing and flying are very common in this book. Another link to dragon literature is how the author uses Jack and the bean stock and King Arthur as an example of a stone prince's friends.

Stone Prince: Almost gets turned into a stone slab. He asks Princess Cimorene to help him make a name for himself like his friends Jack in the bean stock and King Arthur of Avalon. So technically since the Stone Prince defeats Woraug, he gets to rescue his princess which is Alianora.

Valley near the Mountains of Morning: An untouched dragon free environment where Princess Cimorene caught Antorell picking dragonsbane even though he is not allowed to be in that area. Wizards also do not use herbs in their spells. So later on in the pick Princess Cimorene and Kazul figure out that the wizards are trying to take over the caves of Fire and Night.

Woraug: Woraug is a male dragon who is trying to help the wizards by giving the wizard society the crystal ball in exchange for using trickery to make Woraug the King of dragons. Antorell claims that Waraug will give the crystal ball to the wizards. Woraug fails to be King of the Dragons instead Kazul wins the competition and is now the King of the Dragons. He is later turned into a frog with red eyes.

Ford of Whispering Snakes: A river bank where the wizards are using to help Woraug win the King of the Dragon's competition.
