Assessments
high stakes
Used to make important decisions about students, educators, and districts and holding them accountable.
-
-
This is used at my school, especially to keep our Charter doors open. Students leave these tests "burnt out" mentally.
-
authentic
Advantages: Allows students to preform their skills, and demonstrate their knowledge. Can be simulations or role-plays, or studio portfolios of selected works. Mirrors problem-solving that will occur in the "real world".
Can be made by the teacher or in collaboration with student. Allows students to illustrate their competency in a more "authentic" setting.
Disadvantages: Depending on your area and school, you might not have resources to give the student "real life" experiences. Student would have to be self-motivated.
This would be perfect for the arts. Working with a actor, artist or musician.
-
