Definition: It is a form of pre-assessment that allows teachers to foresee students' strength and difficulties, and guide the lesson planning.
Purpose: It helps teachers foresee students' difficulties.
Advantage: Allows better planning. Disadvantage: It may cause teachers to make incorrect references about a child's ability.
Example: Students make a survey about the topic of the unit.

Definition: It is used to help students' learning and teachers' further learning with feedback.
Purpose: Monitor students' learning and teachers' teaching, and give feedback.
Advantages: 1 Monitor the learning Process; 2 Improve student's learning; 3 Improve teacher's teaching. Disadvantages: 1 Time is very long; 2 How to give proper and effective feedback.
Example: Students complete the investigation form to tell the teacher how much they understand.
