Beliefs

Belief in Indian superiority, (racial discrimination on the Kaffirs)

Resist British rule with non-violence

Hindu-Muslim unity

Rejection of the Hindu caste system

Rejection of the industrial society

India to go back to self sustaining villages, agriculture, domestic and rural economy. Disagreed with Neru (leader of the INC)

Believed the justice system of the west was brilliant and at some point believed in India under the British flag

Positives

Even though a Hindu, he wanted to help the Dalits and the Muslims in India.

His belief in non-violence prevented many protests from being violent protests as they believed in Gandhi

He and Neru made the INC actually be for the people of India instead of the false power it was originally designed for.

Negatives

Even though he was anti-capitalism he took the money of capitalist investors to forward his own campaign.

He admired the justice system of the west, however he also criticised its lack of religious partnership. How would that work in an India that had Hindu and Muslim people

Believing he could speak as all Indians, he offended the Dalit and Muslim league leader as he didn't let them speak for themselves.

He would cancel his commitment to movements very quickly and this would get protesters to protest alone and end up in jail.

He didn't want partition or industrialisation but that does happen.
