My 4 month "sabbatical"
1 month of... relaxing
Should I have started the job search earlier?
Was 1 month too long?
Didn't make sense to start search just before US Thanksgiving
1 - 2 months of heavy job search
This was not fun & exhausting, but was efficient and satisfactory
JobHero was really great for this, though it'd have been nice if it was geared more toward tech job searching (specific states fo phone screens, in person interviews, etc.)
1 month of relaxing after job search
Morning/Evening rituals worked out well
Maybe should start emulating work days/weekends earlier
Only did it the last week, this time.
Felt like I didn't get much done
I think if I had more goals, like the architecture one below, I'd feel more accomplished. Spent to much time doing chores, but not enough time doing goals
I did get my major RTM tasks (priority 1 & 2)
down to < 10 hours. Which is good.
Exercised just about daily
Wish I had done more of what I did earlier in the month
ie. spent 1 - 2 hours doing my "architecture" course as though that were my "job"
Fininshed
96
tasks from 2017.12.31 - 2018.02.03
40 hours 45 min of tasks
That's about 3 tasks per day
About 1 hour 10 min of tasks done per day
A lot of the tasks on RTM were "waiting for x job to respond" tasks
Wish I'd kept a history of
what
was on my daily schedule each day or at least a list of everything that had ever been there
Wish I had a good morning/evening routine for what will be my work week. I'm sure it'll just be a re-tweaking of the weekend ones, but it'd have been nice to prepare
Wish I'd gone out more, to coffee houses and such, but then again, I didn't have a laptop battery for it. Didn't get the new laptop until the end
If nothing else, I'm really relaxed and ready to start my new job
It being winter made it harder to do things that were "outside", but perhaps I could have tried harder to make it a goal to get out
