The Crucible-Act II predictions and evidence (hour 7)
“It is a providence, and no great change; we are only what we always were, but naked now”-Proctor pg. 1181
Prediction: Everyone's secrets will begin to come out.
Prediction: John will have to admit to adultery in order to save Elizabeth.
“It is a mouse no more. I forbid her to go, and she raises up her chin like the daughter of a prince and says to me, ‘I must go to Salem, Goody Proctor; I am an official of the court!’”-Elizabeth pg. 1163
Prediction: Mary will betray Elizabeth in the end as a way to save herself.
Prediction: Mary will not change her story; she will condemn the Proctors.
"I have seen too many frightful proofs in court—the Devil is alive in Salem, and we dare not quail to follow wherever the accusing finger points!"-Hale pg. 1175
Prediction: The court will condemn anyone accused as a way to protect their reputation.
Prediction: Hale will look after Elizabeth and try to save her.
"I cannot charge murder on Abigail...She'll kill me for sayin' that! Abby'll charge lechery on you, Mr. Proctor!"-Mary Warren pg. 1180
Prediction: Abigail will turn on Mary Warren and try to convict her of witchcraft.
Prediction: Mary will not come forward to condemn Abigail. She will save herself.
“If the girl’s a saint now, I think it is not easy to prove she’s fraud, and the town gone so silly."-Proctor pg. 1164
Prediction: Abigail will get away with what she is doing. She will not get caught..
Prediction: It will be nearly impossible to convince the court that Abigail is not innocent. She holds too much power in the village.
Evidence: Danforth doesn't believe Proctor
Evidence: Mary Warren will testify
Evidence: Abigail is Parris' niece
“Is the accuser always holy now? Were they born this morning as clean as God’s fingers? I’ll tell you what’s walking Salem—vengeance is walking Salem” -Proctor pg. 1179
Prediction: People will be killed because people are jealous of them .
Evidence: No one believes Proctor about Martha and Rebecca.
Evidence: Ann Putnam accuses Rebecca because she's jealous
Prediction: Those accused will die even though they don't have any evidence against them.
Evidence: 91 people are taken in based on deposition
“I falter nothing, but I may wonder if my story will be credited, in such a court”-Proctor pg. 1173
Prediction: Proctor will go to court to try to save those accused, but no one will believe him.
Evidence: Elizabeth is saved but Proctor doesn't drop the case.
Prediction: Proctor will be accused after going to court.
Evidence: Mary Warren isn't strong
“If Rebecca Nurse be tainted, then nothing’s left to stop the whole green world from burning”-Hale pg.1175
Prediction: Because Rebecca Nurse has been accused, everyone else that has been accused will die.
Prediction: Rebecca Nurse will die, and all the other people accused will also die.
