Taking orders
currently, there is one employee that takes the customers orders, even when its busy there is still only one employee that takes customers orders. When talking the customers order the employee needs to know if they are eating in the establishment or getting the food for take away
when a customer wants to place an order, the employee will need to have written down the order on paper using a pen or pencil. once the when its busy the employee expects another staff member to help take customers orders until there are fewer customers. When a customer is placing an order and they don't know what to pick, the employee would help them by recommending food that they have tried or only specials that have for the day
The employee is then expected to bring the customers order into the kitchen in an appropriate manner without disturbing them. once orders are complete the employee needs to go through the order and ticking off everything is there to ensure the customer gets everything they have ordered
Customer changes mind either to eat in the establishment or cant make up their mind of what they want. making the line behind them increase. The employee just waits for the customer to place their order rather than helping them or giving them time to think whilst they deal with other customers.
mistake when taking orders, writes down the wrong product that the customer wanted. Not paying attention to the customer or and getting distracted easily
Not understand what customer whats and needs are, the music in the business is too loud when talking orders. Customer has to repeat order and employee has to read back order to make sure its correct
lost pen or run out of paper, the employee will then have to go and get a new pen or more paper making the customer wait.
lost the paper with the customer order, the paper could have been misplaced leading to them having to ask the customer to repeat their order. Or the employee has forgotten to bring in the order.
When its busy, sometimes the employee forgets to put in the customer order
customers are given two option to pay for their product and service, either cash or card. A receipt is given to the customer if they pay by card. However, if they pay by cash the employee doesn't give them receipts
The employee gives the customers a card machine for them to pay through their debit or credit card. the price is typed into the machine and then the customer will use contactless or type in their pin. a receipt is then printed and the employee asks the customer if they would like their receipt
Customers Card has been declined, leading the order having to be cancelled. the employee direct them to an ATM to try get cash out. if customer have cash cancel card payment and let them pay by cash
customer paying by cash, the employee punches in the price of the customers order in the till and wait for customers payment. the employee then gives back change if the customer has any.
when its a busy day there are times where the business ran out of change. This can be time-consuming and is making the customer wait as they will need to go get change. As They then have to go to the nearest bank for cash or going to local shop to see if they have change.
if they are low on change they have to ask customer if they have any change so that they can sum it up and give a note to them rather than change
sometimes it occurs that the employee did not give the right change to the customer leading it them getting angry. employee has charged them for the wrong product or got confused with the position of the change
when figuring the price of the customers order, the employee uses a calculator to calculate the overall price or they use pen and paper and write down the prices to figure it out if they cant find the calculator
There will be a new till soon that the employee can use to calculate the price so they won't need a calculator. but until then they will still need to use a calculator
when using the calculator the employee would make mistakes by rushing to complete the customer order and pressing the wrong number leading to them having to calculate the price all over again
price could be calculated wrong and the employee could be over charging or undercharging the consumer. this could be from charging them with a different product then they wanted.
if the customer wants the food for take away, the employee will write their order up and note on the ticket that the order is for take away. this is so that the chef can put it in the right packaging. the employee also needs to give the customer a ticket number so they know the order belongs to them.
