STEP ONE
Remove the spark plug wire from the spark plug by grasping the rubber casing that is over the top of the spark plug and pulling. Tuck the spark plug wire safely out of your way.
STEP TWO
Using the spark plug socket wrench, turn the spark plug counter clockwise to remove it.
STEP THREE
Determine the correct gap for the new spark plug. This information can be found in the manual for your mower. If you do not have your manual, check with your local lawn mower shop.
STEP FOUR
Use the spark plug gapping tool to make sure the gap of the spark plug is correct. If not, adjust the gap to the correct measurement. (What is gap? How to adjust?)
STEP FIVE
With your fingers, carefully put the new spark plug into the mower. Be careful not to cross thread the spark plug. Turn clockwise.
STEP SIX
Place the spark plug socket wrench on the spark plug. Continue to turn clockwise until it is snug. Do not over tighten.
STEP SEVEN
Push the spark plug wire onto the end of the new spark plug.
