Illumination Project ( Pillbox )
Client
For this project, the main client will be the elderly, but it could be used by anyone as it is very easy to forget your pills
Aesthetics
I am going to try to make the pillbox not seem like a medical appliance, but an ornament in your home. Although this might make it hard to remember what it is, it will have some distinct features to remind the user of what it is.
Materials
Currently, I am unsure what materials I am going to use but I will have to make sure that it is safe to hold edible products in, as the pills will be stored in the compartments.
Possible materials
Plastic - plastics are much easier to keep clean and uncontaminated, but they are more common for medical uses, which goes against what I want my product to be. I could use it for small pieces but I don't want to create it solely out plastic.
Wood - this would have to be carefully finished to make sure there are no rough edges and the seal wouldn't contaminate the content. It could also have a liner on the inside to avoid having direct contact with the wood.
Cost
I will have to do some research on similar products on the market to decide what the appropriate price for my pillbox will be.

Function
This wil be to help remind the elderly (or other users) to take their recessary pills if they forget.
To be aesthetical pleasing
Saftey
As this product incorporates a light, it will use circuits and electricity to run. These can cause fire hazards and potential danger so to avoid this, I will need to make sure that precautions are put in place to avoid this from happening.
Also, it needs to be ensured that the circuits and cabling aren't able to come into contact with the user, as it might be using power straight from the mains.

Size
The size doesn't need to be too large due to its purpose. I will need to do some research on some existing products to find an ideal size, but this still doesn't mean I am limited to stick to the same size as the other products.
