why
Jan + Feb: planning curriculum + how to market program + mentor
Mar: refining curriculum + marketing program to MS students (action)
Apr: program begins + ends!
May: reflection + presentation
using a Middle School classroom, or the HS journalism classroom (FCP)? Maybe switching between certain locations depending on the topic of the class...
keep the project/video topics Singapore/SAS based - they don't have to be about SAS but make sure that the video footage is easily attainable for students
MS Film program currently only focuses on films w/ storylines, and they don't do any kind of video journalism (which is even present in the HS). If this program goes well and it fosters and interest in the MS students, the HS program can be more of a continuation of what they've learned. The MS could also consider adding a journalism aspect to their film program permanently.
less than 20 MS students
month-long program
produce a video (myself) on my catalyst
getting footage throughout the whole process
classes 2 or 3 times a week (depends on the planned curriculum)
organize a curriculum of 8-12 sessions
show at presentation? or get footage from presentation and include in a final video (not included in the project + presentation)
goal: for each student/group of students to be able to create their own investigate film (get feedback on their thoughts on video journalism + the class as a program at the end of April).
- brainstorming
- finding people to interview
- interviewing + using camera equipment
- getting video shots
- whole editing process (FCP)
- publishing (create a 'portfolio': a collection of everyone's final products so there is a place people can view them) - youtube playlist?
curriculum: classes will consist of/cover topics
plan course material + "hw" assignments (things that have to be done outside of school).
questions
- how to get all the equipment for the classes?
- how to recruit MS students?
- how does money play in this project?
- who should I ask to be my mentor?
- what should my own personal video consist of? how much of the
