: as we experience different events, our nervous system develops physical reactions to those events.

Cannon-Bard Theory:
We feel the emotions and experience the physiological reactions such as sweating, trembling, and muscle tension. EVENT --> AROUSAL / EMOTION

Case Studies
Ekman and Friesen––constants across cultures in the face and emotion:
investigates the question of whether any facial expressions of emotion are universal and has found six basic emotions that are universally identified:
happiness, disgust, fear, surprise, sadness and anger

the subjects were injected with epinephrine (placebo), except the administrator told the subjects that they will be experiencing non-arousal symptoms. Therefore, either the subjects were hypnotized or were used as a control

: is not stress elimination but can helping you cope better with stress.
Coping with Stress
Emotion-focused coping:
attempting to manage our emotional reactions
Problem-solving coping:
deals directly with the stressor to decrease or eliminate it.
