Visual Design Model
2.) Determine the Context
Who are the learners that will see the material
What is the learning environment consist of
What is the delivery mediums that we will use to deliver the content
What are the contrast that we need to look out for/ the road blocks ahead of us
3.) Design the visual approach (The look and feel)
Assess what could be the worst possible graphic
Use your visuals to help project the feeling and material that you are covering
Every instructional graphic package has a ideal look and feel that should be attained
5.) Apply principals of psychological events to visual design decisions
We can use visuals to help aid in the retention of content but we can also cause a visual overload
Mind maps are a great example/ this is an extension of number five and we know that due to the lines drawn
If you use a lot of animation consider using audio in parallel to help with the retention of the context
1.) Define the GOAL
Visual design always starts with anticipation of the content that we are going to portray
Is the goal to inform or motivate the participants
4.) Identify communication function of visuals to match content types
Work through the content that has been created to ensure that individual graphics are in tandem with key points
Make use of step three to ensure that visuals make sense. If its on a computer use some animations
