DIGESTIVE
ORGANS
ORAL CAVITY(MOUTH)
Analysis of potential foods; mechanical processing using teeth, tongue, and palate surfaces, lubrication by mixing with mucus and salivary secretions, and digestion by salivary enzymes
PHARYNX(THROAT)
helps with swallowing, it serves as a pathway for food to pass from the mouth to the esophagus
ESOPHAGUS
Used as the conduit for food and liquids that have been swallowed into the pharynx to reach the stomach.
STOMACH
Chemical digestion happens at stomach, it is composed of four regions :Cardia, fundus, body, & pylorus.
SMALL INTESTINE
has 3 regions(duodenum, jejenum, and ileum) the small intestine receives chyme fro the stomach that is then mixed with accessory organ secretions; most of the chemical digestion happens here.
LARGE INTESTINE
continues the absorption of water, electrolytes and vitamins. The large intestine has several parts to it; the cecum is the first portion of the large intestine. The colon has several parts to it:
Ascending, transverse, descending and sigmoid
ANUS
The last part of the GI tract, its function is to get rid of the waste from the rectum.

MUCOSA

SUBMUCOSA
composed of areolar and dense irregular connective tissue,
many large blood vessels, lymph vessels, nerves, and glands
