How
Original- I rub scrape two metal sheets together and record the sound, I can record the sound from YouTube.

Why
I need this sound as my character will be dragging a metal grate so this sound will be needed for realism and immersion.

How
original- Record myself/someone else walk on different surfaces for a variety of sounds, record footsteps from YouTube
Folly- Tap a surface in a footstep like manor in a variety of different tones to imitate different surfaces.
Why
Builds immersion, gives the protagonist character, adds more aspects of realism
