Activities
- Develop a core group of youth leaders, provide them with training and information, and support them to plan and lead activities to disseminate this information in their own communities (on the topics of child rights, migrant rights, the risk and harm of SEC, HT, and the services available for them to seek assistance)
- Develop the potential of youth leaders in the community, providing them with information on safe migration, prepare them for future employment and to understand both sides of Thailand and Myanmar, support on how to provide basic counselling to children at risk/children who have been exploited and how to report sexual exploitation
- Campaign activities in local languages in alignment with ECPAT international’s Bill of Rights campaign: to raise awareness and increase understanding about vulnerable children, child victims, their rights to access to justice, social services and rehabilitation. including reporting mechanism, legislation. ECPAT Thailand will emphasise migrant communities, safe migration, and how to protect oneself from HT and SEC
Online component:
Using websites, social media accounts, Facebook, Line in Burmese and other local languages, creating and sharing content (e.g. short video clips, spot advertising, memes and online newsletters)
Print component:
Year 1 – Informational Materials: 2000 Stickers on organizations available to provide assistance (Burmese and Tai Yai languages), 2000 infographic print-outs. Year 3 – Illustrated book in two languages (Thai, Burmese)
- Organize multi-stakeholder workshops to child rights and business practices using current structures set up by the government
- Organize business forums to raise awareness of the plight faced by migrant children and the role of the private sector in preventing these children from sexual exploitation, while developing their brands as a responsible business partners
- Collaborate with relevant Government partners to conduct multi-stakeholder workshops that promote ethical business practices within the private sector, to prevent child sexual exploitation and child trafficking
- Follow-up and support business sectors to develop action plan and awareness raising activity to minimize their negative impacts on children (8 private sectors organizations)
- Establish and strengthen relationship with different GOs and CSOs agencies at the provincial and national level to support Child migrants’ rights to basic services, and protection from criminalization/detention due to irregular status or involvement in illegal activities such as prostitution (e.g. to correctly identify child prostitution
- Provide training for relevant personnel of GOs, NGOs CSOs and private sector representatives to enable application of child rights approach that can distinguish between trafficked children and other children on the move to ensure the protection of children in the context of migration
- Organize 2 days trainings for staff of Diakonia's Partners on organizational child protection policy (CPP) in order to raise their awareness on the important of having the CPP in place; (target 70 persons)
- Provide support and advice to 10 Diakonia network organizations in disseminating the concept of child-safe organization within their organizations as well as during the process of developing/revising and putting their organizational child protection policy and procedures in place
