The good Will
Immanual kant
Kant held that the good is to aim of a moral life, was primary concerned about the century of the principles of ethical reasoning, recognized that in the domain of ethics.
Kant held onto three areas of interest in ethics they were God, Freedom, and Immortality.
Freedom: If the supreme good is to be, in part our achievment, then what we ought to do, we can do. To have the duty to do something, we must be able to do it. Therefore, Kant argues, humans are by nature free
Immortality: Achieving the supreme good is an immense task, It is impossible to obtain it completely in this life. This is why there is immortality, a life beyond, in which we can achieve the supreme good.
God: Humans cannot out of their own power achieve the supreme good. There are too many circumstances beyond our control.Kant proposes the existence of God to allow us to achieve the supreme God

"discerning believer formed in the Catholic Faith" this CGE quote lines up with The Good Will of Immanual Kant nicely by for both Kant and CGE because both involve trying your best to achieve a goal for yourself and having lots of trust and faith in the church to guide you down the correct path.

I believe and live by the ethical rule of "the good will" for me this means I strive and want to love in the best way possible with my own two hands but know I cannot achieve that on my own because there are so many little things that are beyond myself and sometimes even God himself.
