Questions to ask:
Why do you think dating applications/sites and people forming their relationships online is such a popular phenomenon?
In your opinion, what are the benefits of meeting a significant other in person, and forming a relationship more naturally?
What would be the cons?
And what would you say are the benefits of creating a relationship online, through a dating website or phone application?
What would be the cons?
In ‘Hang the DJ’, relationships are given an expiry date, and though the intention of the episode is more complex, it touches on this idea that online dating apps make the whole dating process less emotive. It becomes so rapid and transient, almost meaningless. What are your thoughts on this, as a relationship expert? Do you think there is any truth to this?
Do you think the dating process is destined to become online-only? Is technology becoming too invasive in such human aspects of life and socialisation?
Are relationships made in real life through face-to-face interaction likely to be more permanent? Or relationships created on sites like SpeedDater, or Tinder, connected through algorithms and “perfectly matched” together? Or does it simply depend on who we are as a person?
Does the digital world trivialise human connection, and human relationships, do you think?
