Uchwan Slave Trade 1472-1930
1472-1572
In 1472 after the war with Unago (1456-1472) Unago ordered Uchwan to begin selling poor people as slaves to help rebuild cities in Unago
From 1472-1482 Uchwan sent just 1,000 slaves to Unago every year. Many of them were just young men, aged around 15-20
In around 1486 Unago began to sell some of the men to other countries like Kove, Hulecho, and the Suvuni Kingdom, without the permission of Uchwan and for a lower price than what Unago bought them for
In the 1490's the first shipment of 500 slaves reached the SK. SK began to ask Uchwan to sell slaves to merchants, and in 1497 Uchwan declined
So in 1498 the Suvuni Military raided the southern villages of Unago, taking control of slave ports and the surrounding areas, thus taking control of slave shipments to other nations
In 1503 the Yuse wars were fought in Uchwan. Unago and the SK both wanted control of the slave ports, because each side knew that having control of the ports meant control of the entire slave trade. Both sides fought intensely until 1507 when the Suvuni Kingdom claimed victory
In 1512 Queen Jezun made the price of buying slaves cheaper for men who served in the military. This in turn raised the popularity of owning slaves. This also meant that harsher slave laws came into effect due to the rising slave population
In 1553 both the Suvuni Kingdom and Unago attack Uchwan to exhaust it's economy to create an inflation of prices which in turn created an abundance of poorer people. The Deal of 1542 then came into play again because Uchwan now had more people to sell off as slaves

In 1545 Uchwan sold all of it's poor and disabled people to other nations, mostly to the Suvuni Kingdom which was responsible for buying over 85% of slaves from Uchwan. This halted the slave trade until 1553 when both the Suvuni Kingdom and Unago came up with an idea....
As the Valin Era began the rate of slaves being imported into the SK rose by over 170% from 1520-1530 many of these slaves built stronger buildings, cleaned the city streets and helped famous artists and writers create their works
In 1536 Uchwan attempted to regain control of slave ports that were held by the Suvuni Kingdom. This was called the Second Yuse War and lasted from 1536-1542. Both sides surrendered in 1542 and agreed to created the Deal of 1542 which gave both sides equal control of slave ports but gave the Suvuni Kingdom 60% of all profits made on slaves
But, Queen Jezun also made the price of buying freedom more cheaper to female slaves. This is all due to the Compromise of 1515 that Queen Jezun made with her mother, Queen Ninga. Queen Ninga pushed for slavery and racial superiority while Queen Jezun did not
From then on the SK began to import slave merchants into Uchwan to capture people into slavery. Many of the people captured were now older people. These older people were sold to poor buyers while richer people were able to buy slaves that were more physically fit.
In 1508, as a consequence for losing the war the Suvuni Kingdom limited slave trading to Unago for the next 5 years
