Africa World Geo Wrap-Up
big idea
Overall, if we didn't have Africa, we might not have some of the great things we love like jazz, or Picasso or even phones, OR COFFEE! so though this is a very dangerous place, it has created lots of the everyday things we use today! plus, it's a very beautiful place to live.
push/pull
push factors
bad technology
In Africa, it is not very up to date with technology, like you will see old 1980s cars and bad TVs. so they have tech, just not too good
hard to live
It is always hot, then always cold, and there is little food and water to go around, so when you think about living in Africa, you should go to the jungles, i mean yeah you will get good food and water, but you may get attacked more.
-
pull factors
nice views
If you go to the right places, you can get beautiful views of the jungle or the sea.
exotic and tasty food
Since some animals of Africa are only in Africa, you may never get to taste them, which you might love them.
Usually peaceful
You will almost never see war in Africa, so it's a nice quiet peaceful land.

Coffee beans
"Italians gave it to us short and strong, Americans served it filtered then ratcheted up the calories by adding syrups, whipped cream and even pumpkin. But everyone’s favorite stimulant originates from Ethiopia, where it grows wild." this quote from "10 things Africa has given to the world" shows that even though coffee wasn't that famous, it was still used for chewing and eating, instead of making a drink with them.

MATH!
"The history of mathematics is so Eurocentric that most accounts of ancient mathematical systems seem to begin and end in Egypt. But the Lebombo bone found in Swaziland and the Ishango bone, discovered on the border between Uganda and Zaire" this quote states that Egypt actually wasn't the creator of math, but Africa was. Egypt just created things like addition.
modern art
"Africa’s contemporary artists are having a bit of moment, but the world still largely ignores the continent’s role in inspiring celebrated artists such as Picasso, Matisse or Kirchner. In the early 1900s the aesthetics of traditional African sculpture became what the Met Museum in New York describes as “a powerful influence among European artists" this quote states that Africa was the one that inspired great artists like Picasso.

jazz
"It’s all about the polyrhythms – two or more different rhythms happening at the same time – which European folk music also has but African music spread. The Pulitizer prize-winning composer and author Gunther Schuller wrote that “every musical element – rhythm, harmony, melody, timbre, and the basic forms of jazz – is essentially African in background and derivation”." Africa did make the roots of jazz, but they may have also inspired people like Beethoven.
