coat hook design
aesthetics
it will have to be smooth, sleek and a mix of modern and classic by the use of metal and wood. i aim to make a a appearance to look cool and my main aim is to make the user and other people who will visually be pleased and proclaim to themselves mentally how smart and well though the design is.
another aim is to make the impact and looks of the coat hook surprising but not to shock the user but to give a delightful unexpected appearance because it is very unlikely for the user or visitor to think of the head of a guitar as a coat hanger but when they see it they think how practical it is and it makes unexpected logical sense

materials
most likely made out of mild steel to make it bendable but also include a bit of wood to give a less artificial vibe and a more realistic feel and natural and would blend in with most colors inside the home.
the removable metal hooks will be coated with a see-through paint or varnish to stop it from rusting. the wood I will use will be the wood most guitars are made of which is mahogany or for a nicer more unique finish I would use cocobolo or tuya

ergononmics
the tuning piece on the guitar is planned to have a threaded end so it can be screwed into the head stock and screwed out so the user can easily pick which type of hook they want so the user can adjust the type of hook wether being long or short to the type of coat they have
the space of material in the middle is unused and the material there has no good use and it could be utilized. this links on to my next proposal for the design. i would cut out a rectangular area and insert thin metal pipes in the empty area. this allows the user to hang jackets and coat hangers on the metal pipes making it more functional for hanging clothing which is vital not to crease.
cost
due to the coat hook having a complex and tedious design and attributes such as interchangeable hooks and the bars in the middle allowing for more configuring to your preferred way of holding your jackets. the most complex part the base will require time and precision to make a smooth, realistic looking headstock.
using a variety of materials from mahogany and aluminium/steel for the hooks and bars is not gonna come cheap and the procedures are long and require skill so it won't come cheap. but the mechanism itself it simple so it won't be very expensive. medium to expensive price range for coat hooks
customer
the beauty of this design is that it applies to both younger customers such as 18-25 and older customers such as 40 years and over. I achieve this by the design being very relatable and most people know what a guitar is and some even know how to play it. the mixture of a classic being the brown, weathered wood and the style of an instrument relatable for centuries to all ages and the innovative, smart feature is for younger people who want to come across as slick, smart, stylish and classy.
the design is like a light bulb made over 100 years ago and everyone knows what it is and how it looks, its just iconic and all ages will know what it is, old will know what it is and young will also know.
safety
everyone is worried about safety, so i decided it have interchangeable hooks for 2 reasons. 1 for personal customisation and preference to the coat, eg. the coat does not have the required llop to hold on a simple hook. 2 for safety. let me explain. say the customer lives alone and is a safe, responsible person they can choose the sharper more sleek looking hooks but if this person does not live alone and maybe has kids or is clumsy they can select the more round less sharper coat hooks that if the child or person somehow hits themselves with the damage would be much less and non-fatal
-
size
my coat hook will be the size of an average headstock maybe smaller so it does not look clunky, bulky and stick out like a sore thumb so being a small or negligible amount. i aim to keep as close to the original size as possible to keep the authenticity of the guitar, too big and it will look ridiculous, too small it will look like a toy.

enviroment
most likely will be used in the hallway of a house or apartment so it will be nice and stylish surprise for the person entering to see and make a good first impression.
function
i don't know about you but i'm pretty sure a coat hook is used to keep coats above the floor. my product does this efficiently with class by using the knobs on the side used for tuning the guitar to hold up the coats. the tuning knob will act as the hooks in a normal coat hook and the unused area in the middle of the guitar to be cut out and insert two metal bars which would be used to hold up coat hangers for clothing with a higher acquitity.
