Chapter 2 Thoughts
Brain findings
Freud proposes contact barriers (the synapse), which is later supported by researchers.
According to Carr (2010) "Thoughts, memories, emotions-all emerge from the electrochemicl interactions of neurons, mediated by synapses" (p. 20).
Plastic brain-Young/James. Carr (2010) quotes Young as saying, "The structure of the brain may be in constant flux" (p. 21)

Aristotle felt the brain worked as a cooling system, "A compound of earth & water" which "tempers the heat and seething of the heart." (Carr, 2010, p. 36.)
Olds says, "The brain has the ability to reprogram itself on the fly, altering is functions" (Carr, 2010, p. 27).

My thoughts
Interesting to note that as early as Aristotle, the brain was envisioned to be a separate part of the body yet it had a unique and important function
With experiments and research, we have to come to accept that the brain is more plastic than concrete
