Maternity leave
Definition
Maternity leave is the period of time when a mother stops working because she is about to have — or has just had (or adopted) — a baby.

Eligibility criteria
Have worked for her employer or have been self-employed for at least 3 continuous months before the birth of her child.
Child Development Co-Savings act (CDCA)

16 weeks maternity leave
Eligibility criteria
Have worked for her employer or have been self-employed for at least 3 continuous months before the birth of her child.
Given your employer at least 1 week’s notice before going on maternity leave, and inform them as soon as possible of your delivery
Legally married to child’s father, and/or child is born or has estimated delivery date (EDD) on or after 1 January 2017.
Child is a Singapore citizen
May be affected in different situations
Child is not a Singapore Citizen
If employee is not eligible for Government-Paid Maternity Leave at the time of delivery
Foreigner or Permanent Residents working in Singapore
Single or unmarried mother
Contract, temporary or part-time employee
Employee on probation
Birth of twins
Premature birth
Stillbirth
Abortion or miscarriage
Falling sick during maternity leave
Childcare leave
Definition
Childcare Leave is a period of time when employer allows their employees to spend time with his/her child without the need for a medical certificate.
Employment act
Eligibility criteria
Has served an employer for a period of not less than 3 months
has any child who is below the age of 7 years
Entitlement
Shall not be entitled more than 14 days of childcare leave in respect of any child
thereafter, take his next and each subsequent entitlement of childcare leave of 2 days for a relevant period in the next succeeding relevant period and in each subsequent succeeding relevant period
Childcare leave capped at 2 days per year.

Entitlement
2 days of extended childcare leave per year if the child is above the age of 7 but below the age of 13 years
2 days of childcare leave if the employee has served the employer for a period of < 5 months
3 days of childcare leave if the employee has served his employer for a period of > 5 months but < 7 months
4 days of childcare leave if the employee has served his employer for a period of > 7 months but < 9 months
5 days of childcare leave if the employee has served his employer for a period of > 9 months but < 11 months
6 days of childcare leave if the employee has served his employer for > 11 months
