Experimental Design By Daniel, David, and Rachel
Variables
Independent
Dependent
The item that you change on purpose during an experiment.
The item you count, measure, or observe during an experiment.
Title
The Effect of the (Independent Variable) on the (Dependent Variable)
Hypothesis
It should look like "If the (independent variable), then the (dependent variable) because..."
The hypothesis is an educated guess before the experiment. It is a prediction of what the results will be.
Levels of the IV
Constants
Control
The control is the item in an experiment that is left alone so you can compare your results.
Conlusion
The levels of the IV are the changes to the independent variable to see the changes in data.
The conclusion explains the result of the experiment.
This should be the first thing you write when filling out a table.
Repeated Trials
Repeated trials is how many times the experiment will be done.
Each experiment should be done at least 3 times, or as many are necessary stated in the experiment.
The constants are the things that are kept the same throughout the experiment.
This should be the second thing you write when filling out a table.
All of the factors that are the same for all levels of IV and the control group.
This should be the third thing you write when filling out a table.
This should be the fourth you write when filling out a table.
The conclusion should be done last when making a table.
This should be done fifth while making an EDD table.
The first and last word should be capitalized and the nouns, verbs, and adjectives should also be capitalized.
