        Example from real life: in high school when I would sometimes come into class with out my homework done and I would look to a friend and say something like "Oh no, I didn't get my work done" and they reply with something like "It is ok, neither did I"
      - Impression management: When you are in a situation and you know something would influence the way people see you positively.
        Example from real life: i went to an exclusive party and was not let in at first but then I told them that i knew the owner and next quickly got in.

        Self-clarification: "I'm really confused about something I did lat night. If I tell you, maybe I can figure out why I did it."
