All care settings should have emergency procedures in place for situations such as fire, bomb scares and intruders
Care workers should be aware of these and should know what to do in the event of one of these emergencies

There should be regular evacuation practices and fire drills do everyone is familiar with what to do

Equipment considerations
Appropriate training of staff for specialist equipment, e.g. hoists, transfer beds

Fit for purpose, appropriate for the task specialist equipment available
Correct equipment provided for the task, reduces risk of injury to staff and service users
Checked regularly for damage-repaired or disposed of if necessary, e.g. toys, wheelchairs
No worn-out, damaged or potentially dangerous equipment will be in use
