Maternity & Childcare Leave Entitlements
Employment Act
It is Singapore's main labour law. Itprovides for the basic terms and working conditions for all types of employees, with some exceptions.
Who is not eligible under EA?
Manager/executive with basic monthly salary of more than $4,500
Seafarer
Domestic worker
Statutory board employee or civil servant
Child Development Co-Savings Act (CDCA)
An Act to encourage married persons in Singapore to have more children, to facilitate the provision of cash grants and the making of financial provision for the development of children, to enable financial provision to be made for children of parents who have been granted a divorce, a judicial separation or an annulment of marriage, and for matters connected therewith.
Who is eligible under CDCA?
Those not covered under EA

Government Paid Maternity Leave
(CDCA)
Eligible for:
Employed mothers for 16 weeks of paid maternity leave
Requirements:
Child is a Singapore Citizen
Lawfully married to child's father
Served employer for a continuous period of at least 3 months
Given employer 1 week notice before going on maternity leave

Eligible for:
Employed mothers are entitled to 12 weeks of maternity leave
Requirements:
Covered by the Employment Act
Served employer for a continuous period of at least 3 months

Stillbirth
Premature Birth
Birth of Twins
Abortion or Miscarriage
Falling sick during Maternity Leave
Childcare Leave
Government Paid Childcare Leave
(CDCA)
Eligible for:
Both parents get 6 days per year of childcare leave
Requirements:
Child is a Singapore citizen
Served employer for at least 3 continuous months
Child is below 7 years old
Extended Childcare Leave
Entitlement - 2 days of extended childcare leave every year
Requirements:
Youngest child is between 7 and 12 years old (inclusive)
Child is a Singapore citizen
Served employer for a continuous period of at least 3 months
Childcare Leave

Eligible for:
If child is not a Singapore citizen, both parents eligible for 2 days of childcare leave
Requirements:
Child including legally adopted children or step-children is below 7 years old
Worked for your employer for a continuous period of at least 3 months.
