Types of Government
Democracy:
This government is ruled by the people. The people have life, liberty, freedom and the right to vote and speech. In Direct Democracy the citizens rule directly and in a Democratic Republic, citizens rule through representatives.
Cons
-People can often be uninformed if elected representatives are constantly dealing with issues.
-Mobs/majority has the influence and minorities and smaller groups are not as often heard.
Pros
-The people decided who and what lead their country and ultimately have the power to decide how we live.
-Power is evenly spread and it helps prevent exploitation and corruption.
Anarchy:
There is no government rule. There is an absence of order and chaos generally occurs until order is established.
Cons
-There would be no punishment for crimes committed and they could become regular.
-It’s everyone for themselves.
Pros
-No government, so government corruption is not possible.
-More freedom and lack of taxes.
Oligarchy:

Cons
-Free speech and power of the people declines with a certain group making decisions.
-Wealth is leaned more towards the rulers than the workers and income inequality is increased.
Pros
-Women have a greater chance of being in power if they make it into the decision making group, rather than other types of ruling positions.
-Decisions are made faster with less people to debate and consult.
Communism:
This government has one party or person who rules and the citizens have limited rights and freedoms. The goal is a classless society with no private property, This is based on Karl Marx's communist ideas.
Cons
-People have no voice with no freedom of media.
-Since equality is promised for everyone, it is hard for businesses to make money under equal economic conditions/terms.
Pros
-Class systems can be done away with and people have equal access to health, education, food, etc. and can improve unemployment.
-All citizens are provided with basic needs and nobody is forgotten as it promises these things for everyone.
Totalitarianism:
This government is ruled by a single person or party with total control. The people have no rights or freedom. Individuals or groups can have total control.
Cons
-Decisions made by governing body are unchecked and can be inefficient or unfair.
-Lack of freedoms leads to lack of diversity of culture.
Pros
-Decisions are made quickly with a certain group or party making decisions. The actions following the decisions are also done quickly too.
-National pride is at an all time high.
Monarchy:
This government is ruled by a King or a Queen. The rule is hereditary and passed through blood lines.
Cons
-Only one person or bloodline rules and people can not change that.
-Monarchs stay in power for years and if you don’t like the ruler, it’s hard to change or stop them.
Pros
-No voting or competition over the next ruler because they are already decided.
-Monarchs are prepared to rule a nation with practice and education until they take over and lead.
Theocracy:
This government runs off of religious rule and books.The laws and ideas come from religious texts and are often seen as old fashioned today.
Cons
-Opinions of people are not heard.
-No freedom of choice in how the government is ruled.
-Lack of representation or equality for minorities and people who do not share the same religious beliefs.
Pros
-Decisions are made faster with God or a spiritual being having total authority instead of consulting with officials.
-Crime rates are reduced with harsher punishments and less tolerance for committing crimes.
-Compromises are easy to come to, with a certain belief and book to follow.
Fascism:
This government has one party or person who rules. The citizens have no rights or freedoms, but there are private properties and classes. The goal is extreme nationalism and control and often despise the arts, using state run media and propaganda.
Cons
-With power in a certain group or persons hands, the power tends to get abused and tyrannical.
-Free speech and criticism of the government is not allowed and people can not voice their opinions.
Pros
With government in full control, crimes are usually punished harder and people are more inclined to keep peace and order.
-The welfare of the country is improved as government money is spent on bettering the country culturally and defensively.
