Networks and the effects of using them.
Networks
: 2 or more computers that are linked together so that they are able to share resources.
Network devices
Switches
They have the same function as hubs but the data is only sent to the computer that needs the information.
Bridges
Used to connect LANs together. When one LAN sends a message, all the LANs receive it. A bridge is needed when data is sent from one computer to another with different LANs.
Hubs
Simple devices that enables computers on the network to share files and hardware such as printers. The data is transferred to all the ports that are connected to the hub.
Modems
It converts digital data into sound that can be sent along ordinary telephone lines.
Network interface cards (NIC)
Cards that are needed to connect directly to the motherboard to: prepare the data for sending, to send data and to control the flow of data from the computer to the transmission data.
Wi-Fi
It enables computers and other devices to communicate wirelessly with each other.
Advantages

:check: Cleaner working place as there are no wires.
:check: You are not confined to working in the same place. For example, you can also work in a train.
:check: No network wires so it is cheaper.
:check: Provided you have a wireless signal.
Disadvantages
:red_cross: There are areas where you cannot get a wireless network.

:red_cross: Danger of hackers that are reading messages.
:red_cross: Limited signal range.
Routers
Hardware devices that read the address information to determine the final destination of the packet.
Bluetooth
Wireless technology used to exchange data over a short distance and it uses radio waves (distance usually between 5 and 100 metres).
Some uses :warning:
Communication between wireless headphones and a mobile phone.
Transferring some appointments, contacts, etc.
If you have a wireless keyboard or mouse, you might use Bluetooth.
