TYPES OF SENSORY TEST
AFFECTIVE
This type of consumer testing usually questions 50 to 100 or more people as to which one of two or more products they prefer, or how much they like or dislike a sample.

This methods are important in market development studies but have little application in flavor research investigation of oil & fats food products.

Descriptive techniques include quality or intensity rating scales, attribute scaling and descriptive analysis.

The test is invalid if panelists can determine differences by colour, texture, temperature or sensory characteristics other than flavor.

The difference are also applicable for laboratory bench testing, but only if no obvious visual variation exists among the samples.
For inexperienced panelists, the triangle test is an appropriate, where the tester is simply asked to determine which two of the three samples presented are identical and which is different.
Sensitivity tests

Threshold or dilution tests are type of sensitivity tests that are excellent for selecting and training panelists.
