ADM - Iteration (Optional)
Not mandatory
If implementing TOGAF, feel free to follow Phase A thru H and then back to Phase A
Can be done as one-phase-at-a-time approach with out implementing Iteration
Generally applicable for TOGAF Part 2 exam, but always good to know
1.
Architecture Development Iteration
One Example - Baseline First Architecture
1.
Go thru Phase B thru F to define baseline architecture only
2.
No need to address the Target, Gaps
3.
Very quickly go thru the architecture, the business, data application and technology, consolidate them from B to F
4.
Repeat B-F to define a target architecture,
lightly
Go back to B, and now start thinking about the target architecture base don architecture vision - Doesn't have to be detailed
5.
Repeat B-F to define a target architecture,
in detail
Second Example - Target First Architecture
2.
Similar to baseline Architecture, with baseline side it done last or lighly
1.
concerned more about Target architecture
2.
Transition Planning Iteration
A loop between Phases E and F
3.
Architecture Governance Iteration
A loop between Phases G and H
4.
Architecture Capability Iteration
Obeys Organization's certain level of architecture capability
It's in the preliminary phase where architecture capability is established and then assessed
The architect may want to iterate the Phase H or go back to A and state - lets re-address the architecture capability
Stage to re-assess the new situation , where we want to be and consider implementing new architecture capability
A loop between Phases H and A
