Refinery processes of crude oil
Refinery is a process in which the pure crude oil is extracted and then its components are processed and separated.
We have five types of operations for refinery.
Treatment
Formulation and mixing
Conversion
Pyrolysis
Alkylation
Polymerization
Isomerization
Catalyc Reformation
Other operations
Fracking or fractional distillation
Different materials are made by their different boiling points. Crude oil is heated from 100 ºC to 350 ºC
Advantages of crude oil treatment
Transportation
Cities
New Technologies
Life styles
Disadvantages of crude oil treatment
Acid Rain
Volatile Organic Compounds
Toxicity
Climate Change
Petroleum/Crude Oil
Organic.
Geochimist reactions between H2O and CO2, hydrocarbons, metal carbonates.
Definition
Complex mixture of hydrocarbons and small amounts of other substances.
Petra(stone).
Óleum(oil).
Matter States
Solid. Color from amber to black.
Liquid. Density less than water
Gas. Colorless, odorless, tasteless.
Inorganic.
Decomposition of vegetable organisms, submitted to enormous amounts of pressure.
Treatment
Different steps are required to treat oil: -Separation of compounds
-Hydrodesulphurization
-Refining
-Sweetening
-Waxes removal
Formulation and Mixing
Many compounds are prepared for different industrial uses
Other operations
Waste recovery, Transportation, Hydrogen production, Treatment of acids, Distillation glues, Sulfur recovery, Production of energy, Analysis (Laboratory).
