- - - - In LaGrange it is common for children to go back to Mexico to visit family and then stay for months at a time. The transfer from one language to another back a forth, for months at a time seems to be difficult for the students.
  - - - Culture of the Building: At South Elgin High School the school supports the different cultures in the school. We have a cultural show that is put on every year for each culture to put on a show about their traditions and dances. It connects the school with the different cultures.
    - - At South Elgin we have a MTSS team that provides lesson for teachers to help all students with social emotional issues.
      - In Lisle, we have a choice time workshop model where SEL lessons focus on acceptance and working together. This time helps students better understand one another. Social workers push in during these times to support all children.
    - - U-46 in Elgin has a Spanish speaking community center for parent to go to to get educational support. We also have a Spanish speaking secretary that provides an educational support group for Spanish speaking parents.
      - During conferences our school lets the community come in and advertise and sell their wares and food. Great way for new families to connect with the community.
      - In LaGrange they have a community center for students to go for homework help and families to go to use computers and for support learning English. Teachers volunteer their time.
      - During all parent participation activities, LaGrange School district bought head phones where a translator is translating the meeting, or event into the head phones for the parents to better understand.
      - During my clinical experiences, I was placed in a Bilingual classroom. Majority of the parents were not English speaking. I learned first hand how to accommodate for families. I was afforded the opportunity to sit in on an IEP meeting. The district provided a translator for the parents which i thought was amazing! My cooperating teacher was also bilingual and able to affectively communicate with the parents.
  - - - I feel like this is becoming a bigger issue with Trump being in presidency. His negative attitude towards immigrants can potentially affect peoples attitude towards immigrants.
- - - - ELL students can get label with limited proficiency or no prior knowledge. Meaning if a child does not have any proficiency in English then they have no proficiency in anything else.
