        The Majority Leader is the Floor Leader from the party not in power. On top of the previously described powers that a Floor Leader has, the Majority Leader has added privileges. The majority leader: schedules the daily legislative program, decides the time for debate, and gets priority when they wish to speak.

        The Minority Leader is the Floor Leader from the party that is not in power.

        A Select or Special Committee is a committee that is very similar to a Standing Committee. Both Select Committees and Standing Committees specialize in a particular topic. Unlike a Standing Committee, a Select Committee is only established for a limited time in order to perform a particular study or investigation. Also differing from a Standing Committee, Select Committees can be given or denied authority to present legislation to the Senate.

Just like the Majority Leader in the Senate, SpongeBob is the highest ranking leader who actually does substantial work in their role(to say it bluntly). SpongeBob's role compares more to the role of the Majority Leader than to Minority Leader because, in the Bikini Bottom, The Krusty Krab has more power than the Chum Bucket. SpongeBob, being an employee of the Krusty Krab, is a part of the party in power, thus he is the Majority Leader rather than the Minority Leader.

In terms of similar respocibilities, Plankton voices the wants and needs of the Chum Bucket through both words and evil plots to steal the Krabby Patty secret formula.

The strongest comparison of Mermaid Man and the Chairman of the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs is in "Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy V", where Mermaid Man was the leader of a superhero coalition bent to fight evil.

In the Episode "Sandy, SpongeBob, and the Worm", Patrick acts as a proper Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Relations would. Patrick meets with a team of other worried citizens to generate solutions as it regards to the looming foreign threat of an Alaskan Bull Worm that came all the way from the surface world.
