Premature ejaculation
This is one of the most prevalent male sexual dysfunctions, with prevalence rates of 20-30% (Hatzimouratidis et al. 2010)
PE is associated with reduced ejaculatory control and sexual satisfaction and increased distress and interpersonal difficulty (Patrick et al. 2005)
In teen boys, premature ejaculation can simply occur because of immaturity and for psychological reasons. maybe teens simply are not ready to be sexually active. Another possibility: their reproductive organs simply are not fully developed and problems will occur like premature ejaculation and age could be the case. This suggests that in most circumstances, premature ejaculation is an age related problem and therefore may only be a short term issue (from Doctor Elist Website)
However, research has found that premature ejaculation is prevalent in older men (Porst et al., 2007), which does suggest that some individuals may not grow out of the problem. For these individuals, there are treatments available such as psychotherapy which employs techniques such as the 'squeeze' and 'stop-start' most commonly employed (Riley & Segraves, 2006)
